Job Summary
The Registered Nurse – CVIR provides specialized nursing care to patients undergoing cardiovascular and interventional radiology procedures. This role ensures patient safety, delivers high-quality care throughout the peri-procedural process, and collaborates closely with physicians, technologists, and other healthcare team members to achieve optimal outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care before, during, and after cardiovascular and interventional radiology procedures
- Assist physicians and technologists during diagnostic and therapeutic interventions
- Monitor patient status, administer medications, and respond to emergencies as needed
- Educate patients and families regarding procedures, recovery, and follow-up care
- Maintain strict adherence to sterile techniques, infection control, and hospital safety protocols
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in electronic health records (EHR)
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure efficient workflow and patient-centered care
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
- Minimum of 2 years of recent nursing experience, preferably in critical care, cath lab, or interventional radiology
- Strong knowledge of cardiovascular and interventional radiology procedures
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to adapt quickly in high-pressure, fast-paced environments
Preferred Qualifications (if any)
- Prior experience in CVIR or cath lab nursing
- Familiarity with advanced imaging and interventional technologies
- Experience with moderate sedation and hemodynamic monitoring
Certifications (if any)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required
- CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse) or RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) certification preferred
