Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Progressive Care Unit team. The RN will provide specialized care to patients who require a higher level of monitoring and nursing support than a general medical-surgical unit but do not require intensive care. This role involves close patient observation, timely interventions, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and assess patients with complex medical conditions requiring continuous observation.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments according to established protocols.
- Perform frequent patient assessments including vital signs, cardiac monitoring, and neurological checks.
- Collaborate with physicians, case managers, and other healthcare providers to develop and update individualized care plans.
- Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and implement appropriate interventions.
- Educate patients and families on health conditions, treatments, and discharge planning.
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation in electronic health records (EHR).
- Ensure adherence to infection control, safety standards, and hospital policies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing professional development.
Required Qualifications
- Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the practicing state.
- Minimum of 1–2 years of nursing experience in a progressive care, telemetry, or step-down unit.
- Proficient in cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation.
- Strong critical thinking and clinical decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Qualifications (if any)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- ACLS certification preferred.
Certifications (if any)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification – required.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification – preferred.
