Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technician to support surgical teams in a fast-paced operating room environment. The Surgical Technician will prepare operating rooms, arrange equipment, and assist surgeons and nursing staff during surgical procedures to ensure patient safety and efficient workflow.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain sterile fields, surgical instruments, and equipment prior to and during surgical procedures.
- Assist surgeons and surgical staff by passing instruments, sponges, and other sterile supplies as needed.
- Ensure the operating room is clean, organized, and fully stocked before each procedure.
- Monitor and maintain proper functioning of surgical equipment.
- Handle specimens collected during surgery and ensure proper labeling and documentation.
- Follow strict aseptic techniques and infection control policies to prevent contamination.
- Assist with patient positioning and draping to maintain surgical site exposure and patient comfort.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to anticipate needs during procedures.
- Document surgical procedures and inventory usage accurately.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Surgical Technician in a hospital or surgical center setting.
- Knowledge of surgical instruments, procedures, and aseptic techniques.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) from NBSTSA or similar recognized body.
- Experience in specialized surgical areas such as orthopedics, cardiovascular, or neurosurgery.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks while maintaining focus on patient safety.
Certifications
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) – preferred or required depending on facility.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification – preferred.
