Job Summary
The Practice Assistant plays an essential role within the healthcare team and supports the delivery of safe, efficient, and patient-centered care.
Working under the direction of licensed independent providers (MD, NP, PA) or licensed nursing staff (LPN, RN), the Practice Assistant participates in both direct and indirect patient care activities.
These responsibilities include assisting with health maintenance, patient instruction, collaborative care planning, and rehabilitation tasks within the scope of their education and training. The Practice Assistant may have incidental access to secure medication storage areas as part of their role. Through effective communication and relationship-building with patients, families, and colleagues, the Practice Assistant contributes to the smooth functioning of the practice and supports organizational goals. The role also includes administrative duties to ensure a seamless patient experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist providers and nursing staff in delivering direct and indirect patient care.
- Support patient instruction, health maintenance activities, and rehabilitation tasks within scope of practice.
- Participate in collaborative care planning with the healthcare team.
- Perform administrative duties to ensure smooth practice operations and enhance the patient experience.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with practice standards.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and colleagues to support high-quality care.
- Work within secure medication storage areas when necessary, with incidental access permitted.
- Contribute to maintaining an organized, efficient, and patient-focused environment.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge and training consistent with the responsibilities of a Practice Assistant or Medical Assistant.
- Ability to work effectively under the direction of licensed independent providers or licensed nursing staff.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to support patient care and team collaboration.
- Ability to perform both clinical and administrative responsibilities within defined scope of practice.
- Organizational skills to support smooth day-to-day practice operations.
