  • Job Summary
    We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Burn Intensive Care Unit (BICU) Registered Nurse to deliver specialized, high-acuity care to adult and pediatric patients with complex burn and trauma injuries. This role follows a Primary RN Care Model in a surgical critical care setting, emphasizing advanced monitoring, resuscitation, and post-operative management. Ideal candidates will be proficient in critical care protocols, comfortable with high-intensity trauma response, and committed to delivering exceptional, evidence-based care across the full continuum of recovery.

    Key Responsibilities
    1. Provide direct patient care in a 1:2 RN-to-patient ratio for critically ill patients; 1:1 ratio for high-acuity, post-operative, or Burn Code 1 admissions.
    2. Perform invasive hemodynamic monitoring, including hourly assessments.
    3. Manage and titrate IV drips, vasoactive medications, and sedation protocols.
    4. Execute nurse-driven burn fluid resuscitation using the Parkland formula.
    5. Administer ventilator care and manage respiratory equipment, including CVVH.
    6. Conduct Q1 hour pulse and flap Doppler checks for graft and flap viability.
    7. Perform initial wound debridement and burn dressing changes as ordered.
    8. Assist with conscious sedation, epidural pump monitoring, and surgical recovery.
    9. Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams including surgeons, respiratory therapists, and pediatric specialists.

    Required Qualifications
    1. RN license in good standing of State.
    2. Minimum 1–2 years of recent ICU or critical care experience
    3. Current BLS and ACLS certifications (PALS preferred for pediatric care)
    4. Experience in fluid resuscitation, invasive monitoring, and ventilator management
    5. Strong understanding of burn pathophysiology and trauma recovery protocols

    Preferred Qualifications
    1. Experience in a burn trauma ICU setting
    2. Training in CVVH (Continuous Venovenous Hemofiltration) and conscious sedation
    3. Pediatric intensive care experience
    4. Certification in Burn Nursing (ABLS or other relevant burn-specific education)
