  • Job Summary
    We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse – Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) to provide specialized perioperative nursing care for cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgical procedures. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, and the surgical team to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care throughout the surgical process.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients undergoing cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgical procedures.
    • Prepare the cardiovascular operating room, surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies prior to surgery.
    • Perform preoperative patient assessments and verify patient identity, surgical site, and procedure.
    • Circulate cardiovascular surgical procedures while maintaining a sterile and safe operating environment.
    • Assist the surgical team during open-heart, vascular, and other cardiovascular procedures.
    • Monitor patient condition throughout surgical procedures and respond appropriately to changes.
    • Administer medications, intravenous therapies, blood products, and treatments as prescribed.
    • Ensure compliance with infection prevention, patient safety, and regulatory standards.
    • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care and surgical procedures.
    • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, surgical technologists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
    • Educate patients and families regarding preoperative and postoperative care.
    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support best practices in perioperative nursing.

    Required Qualifications
    • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state.
    • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
    • Experience working in a Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) or Operating Room with cardiovascular surgical procedures.
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
    • Strong knowledge of aseptic and sterile techniques.
    • Experience circulating cardiovascular surgical procedures.
    • Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment.
    • Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
    • Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) certification.
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
    • Experience assisting with open-heart, vascular, and other complex cardiovascular surgical procedures.
    • Knowledge of evidence-based perioperative and cardiovascular nursing practices.

    Certifications
    • Active Registered Nurse (RN) License.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS).
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
    • Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) preferred.
