Job Summary
The Medical Assistant (MA) provides clinical and administrative support to ensure efficient patient care and smooth daily operations within a healthcare setting. This position requires strong multitasking abilities, a professional demeanor, and a willingness to support both front- and back-office functions. The MA will occasionally travel to multiple clinic sites to provide coverage and maintain continuity of care.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations, procedures, and documentation.
- Record patient history, vital signs, and other clinical data accurately in the Epic electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms, instruments, and supplies according to infection control protocols.
- Perform basic clinical procedures such as specimen collection, injections, and EKGs as directed by the provider.
- Support front desk and administrative functions, including patient scheduling, registration, check-in/check-out, and answering phone calls.
- Ensure patient information and medical records are handled with strict confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA standards.
- Collaborate with medical and administrative staff to maintain workflow efficiency and patient satisfaction.
- Travel occasionally to other clinic sites (Wellesley, Dedham, Norwood, and occasionally Watertown) to provide coverage as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program.
- Proficiency in Epic EMR (Epic experience required).
- Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to travel to various clinic locations when needed.
- Flexibility to perform both clinical and front desk/secretarial duties.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification.
- Previous experience in a multisite healthcare environment.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance verification, and scheduling systems.
