Job Description:

  • JOB SUMMARY
    Provide specialized technical assistance to physicians performing diagnostic and interventional cardiac and vascular procedures in the Cardiac Cath Lab.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Assist physicians in performing a variety of cardiac and vascular procedures.
    • Prepare and maintain the cath lab environment, instruments, and equipment.
    • Monitor patients during procedures, including vital signs and hemodynamic status.
    • Administer medications and emergency drugs as directed by the physician.
    • Ensure sterile technique is maintained throughout procedures.
    • Operate specialized equipment used in the cath lab.
    • Document patient information and procedure details accurately.
    • Respond to emergency situations and provide appropriate care.

    Schedule / Shift
    • 5x8 Days (06:45-15:15) Monday-Friday.
    • Occasional late days (4-5 days per month), with rare instances of working past 17:00 on those days.

    Call Requirement
    • On call one day per week and every fifth weekend.

    Float Requirement
    • Will float as needed.

    Required Qualifications
    • Minimum 2 years of experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab setting.
    • Experience in both Diagnostic Cardiac Cath Lab and Interventional Cardiac Cath Lab work settings.
    • Proficiency in performing procedures such as: Cardiac Stent Placement, Diagnostic Catheterizations Adult, IABP Placement/Removal, Interventional Catheterizations, Left heart catheterization, Percutaneous Coronary Interventions (PCI), Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz monitoring, Right heart catheterization.
    • Knowledge and administration of medications including: Antiarrhythmics, Antihypertensives, Emergency Medications, IV vasopressors, Procedural Sedation Administration/Monitoring, Reversal agents, Thrombolytics.
    • Competency in IV therapy including: Blood Product Administration, IV infusion pumps, Starting IVs.
    • Strong understanding of professional knowledge and skills including: 12 Lead EKG, Activated Clotting Time (ACT), Cardioversion, Circulate Procedures, Infection Prevention, Interpretation/Management of Dysrhythmias, Isolation Precautions, Malignant Hyperthermia Protocols, Monitoring Procedural Sedation, Richmond Agitation-Sedation Scale, Sheath Removal and Monitoring.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience with procedures such as: ASD Closures, Cardiac Implant Closure Device, Impella insertion, Rotablader athrectomy, Scrub Procedures, Transcatheter Aortic Valve implantation/Replacement (TAVI/TAVR).
    • Experience with Vascular Studies/Procedures including: angioplasty, dialysis graft interventional, Upper and Lower Extremity Angiography.
    • Proficiency in advanced IV therapy including: Assist with Central Line Insertion/management, Implanted Ports - Care and Maintenance, PICC Lines - Care and Maintenance.
    • Proficiency in professional knowledge and skills including: End-Tidal CO2 monitoring, External Compression Devices (C-Clamp, Sandbags), Hypothermia protocols, Laser Assisted Procedures, Pressure Ulcer Assessment/Prevention, Radiation and Laser Safety, Topical Hemostasis (D-Stat, Chito-Seal, Syvek Patch), Vascular Closure Systems (Perclose, StarClose), Ventilator Monitoring.

    Patient Population
    • Adults with a range of cardiovascular diagnoses or symptoms, including suspicion or confirmation of heart or vascular disease.
    • Common diagnoses include coronary artery disease (stable angina, unstable angina/NSTEMI, STEMI), heart failure, valvular disease, congenital heart disease, pulmonary hypertension, pericardial disease, and pre-operative evaluations.
