Job Summary
The RN Medical Surgical/Telemetry provides direct patient care in a hospital setting to individuals with a wide range of medical conditions. This role requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to deliver safe, effective care in both routine and complex situations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to an assigned group of patients.
- Document patient responses to interventions and treatments.
- Monitor patient condition and promptly report changes to physicians.
- Assist physicians during examinations and minor procedures.
- Monitor physiological data and intervene when required.
- Administer medications, manage IV infusions, and blood products.
- Communicate patient care plans with patients and families.
- Educate patients and families on hospital procedures and discharge plans.
- Refer patient care needs to appropriate staff when necessary.
- Delegate tasks to support staff effectively.
Education
- Required: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
- Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Required Skills & Experience
- Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years.
- Knowledge of nursing practices, procedures, and patient care techniques.
- Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate nursing services.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations.
- Basic computer skills.
Certifications & Licensure
- Active RN License (State Board of Nursing or Multistate Compact RN License).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
