  • Job Summary
    The Registered Nurse - PACU is responsible for ensuring patient safety and comfort during recovery from anesthesia. This role involves monitoring vital signs, assessing patients, and providing comprehensive care and education to both patients and their families. The RN in this position plays a critical role in the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) by delivering high-quality nursing care to patients as they recover from surgical procedures.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Patient safety and comfort: Ensure patient safety and comfort during the recovery process from anesthesia.
    • Vital sign monitoring: Monitor the patient's level of consciousness and vital signs to assess recovery progress.
    • Patient education: Provide reassurance and educate patients and their families regarding the recovery process.
    • Ventilator and dressing care: Assess patients, deliver care to ventilator-dependent patients, and monitor and manage dressings.
    • Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
    • Infection control: Adhere to Infection Control protocols, Standard Precautions, and OSHA standards for healthcare professionals.
    • Experience: Bring at least one year of current experience working in the Peri Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) or a similar setting.

    Required Qualifications
    • Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
    • Licensure: Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) with an active license in the state(s) where employed and practices.
    Certifications:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience in a Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) or related acute care setting.
    • Additional certifications in perioperative nursing or recovery.

    Certifications
    Required:
    • BLS/BCLS (Basic Life Support/Basic Cardiac Life Support).
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support).
    Education
    • Required: Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
