JOB SUMMARY Provide skilled technical assistance to surgeons and physicians during operative procedures.
Key Responsibilities - Prepare and maintain the operating room environment, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available and sterile. - Assist the surgical team by anticipating needs and providing instruments, supplies, and equipment as directed. - Maintain sterile technique throughout the surgical procedure. - Handle specimens correctly and ensure proper labeling. - Assist with patient positioning and drapes. - Perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts as per protocol. - Manage surgical supplies and instrumentation, including decontamination and sterilization processes. - Adhere to Universal Protocol (Time Out) procedures. - Document relevant information accurately. - Demonstrate leadership or management experience within the surgical setting.
Schedule / Shift Call Required: Yes, 6 shifts per 8-week time block, including weekends and holidays. Weekend Shifts per Contract: 6 shifts per 8-week time block, including weekends and holidays.
Required Qualifications - Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required. - If a traveler, must have worked as a tech in NY prior to 2015 to be exempt from CST requirement.
Experience - Minimum of 3 years of experience. - 3+ years of experience is preferred.
