Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Registered Nurse to join our Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) team. The RN-CVOR plays a critical role in assisting with cardiovascular surgeries, ensuring sterile conditions, and providing safe, effective nursing care throughout the surgical process. This position requires clinical expertise, precision, and the ability to thrive in a high-pressure surgical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare the CVOR for surgical procedures, ensuring all equipment and supplies are sterile and ready.
- Assist surgeons during cardiovascular procedures by passing instruments, monitoring patient status, and anticipating needs.
- Maintain a sterile field and enforce strict aseptic techniques throughout all surgical operations.
- Collaborate with surgical team members including surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical technologists.
- Monitor patients before, during, and after surgery to ensure stability and identify any complications.
- Accurately document surgical care and nursing interventions in the patient’s medical records.
- Provide post-operative care instructions and assist with patient recovery in coordination with the care team.
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Minimum of 1 year of operating room experience, preferably in cardiovascular surgery.
- Strong knowledge of CVOR procedures, sterile techniques, and surgical instruments.
- Ability to remain focused and composed in high-stress, fast-paced environments.
- Excellent critical thinking and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Previous experience with open-heart or major vascular surgeries.
- Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – required.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – required.
- Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) – preferred.
