Job Summary
The Pathologist Assistant provides essential anatomic pathology services under the supervision of a Pathologist. This role involves assisting in the preparation and performance of surgical specimen dissections and postmortem examinations, including sample submission and documentation of gross findings.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, describe, and dissect human tissue surgical specimens.
Assist with frozen section evaluations.
Perform gross examinations and select appropriate tissue samples.
Conduct cryotomy of specimens and apply staining techniques for intraoperative evaluation by a Pathologist.
Support preparation and performance of human postmortem examinations.
Document gross findings accurately and efficiently.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
Completion of a Pathology Assistant Training Program.
Preferred Qualifications (if any)
Prior experience in both surgical and postmortem pathology settings.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Certifications (if any)
Pathologist’s Assistant certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
