Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (Ortho) provides specialized nursing care to patients with musculoskeletal conditions, including those recovering from orthopedic surgeries, fractures, and joint replacements. This role involves delivering compassionate care, monitoring patient progress, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe recovery and rehabilitation.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to individuals undergoing orthopedic treatment and surgical recovery.
- Monitor, assess, and document patient conditions, vital signs, and responses to treatment.
- Administer medications, wound care, and pain management in accordance with clinical standards.
- Assist with mobility, rehabilitation exercises, and patient education regarding post-operative care.
- Collaborate with physicians, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans.
- Educate patients and families on recovery expectations, discharge instructions, and home care needs.
- Maintain strict adherence to hospital policies, safety protocols, and infection-control standards.
- Respond promptly to emergencies and rapidly changing patient conditions.
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in orthopedic or surgical units.
- Strong knowledge of orthopedic care, rehabilitation, and pain management.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications (if any)
- Prior experience in orthopedic surgery recovery or rehabilitation settings.
- Advanced training in wound care or musculoskeletal health.
Certifications (if any)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Required).
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (Preferred).
