  • Job Summary
    The Registered Nurse (RN) – Psychiatric Geriatric provides specialized nursing care to elderly patients with psychiatric conditions. This role involves assessing patient needs, administering treatments, supporting emotional well-being, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe and effective care.

    Key Responsibilities
    1. Assess patient conditions and develop individualized care plans
    2. Administer medications and monitor for side effects
    3. Provide therapeutic interventions to support mental health and emotional stability
    4. Collaborate with physicians, social workers, and other healthcare professionals
    5. Educate patients and families on treatment plans and coping strategies
    6. Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with healthcare standards
    7. Promote safety and prevent harm in psychiatric and geriatric care settings

    Required Qualifications
    • Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience in psychiatric nursing or geriatric nursing
    • Strong knowledge of psychiatric disorders, geriatric care, and crisis intervention
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment

    Preferred Qualifications
    1. Experience in inpatient psychiatric units or long-term care facilities
    2. Training in behavioral health interventions
    3. Familiarity with electronic health record systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner)

    Certifications
    1. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
    2. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
    3. Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing Certification (PMHN-BC) is a plus
