Job Summary
The Registered Nurse – Operating Room provides specialized nursing care before, during, and after surgical procedures. This role ensures patient safety, supports surgeons and surgical teams, and maintains strict adherence to sterile techniques and hospital protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for surgery, including assessments and preoperative care
- Assist surgeons and anesthesiologists during procedures by providing instruments and monitoring patient status
- Maintain sterile environments and enforce infection control standards
- Document patient information accurately in electronic health records (EHR)
- Provide postoperative care and patient education following surgical procedures
- Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality patient outcomes
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
- Minimum of 2 years of recent operating room nursing experience
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, sterile techniques, and patient safety protocols
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to adapt quickly in high-pressure environments
Preferred Qualifications (if any)
- Prior experience in multiple surgical specialties (e.g., orthopedics, cardiovascular, neurosurgery)
- Familiarity with advanced surgical technologies and equipment
Certifications (if any)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
- CNOR (Certified Nurse Operating Room) certification is advantageous
