Job Summary
The Interventional Radiology Technologist provides imaging and technical support during diagnostic and interventional radiology procedures. This role involves preparing patients, operating specialized imaging equipment, ensuring radiation safety, and assisting physicians and nurses in delivering high-quality cardiovascular and vascular care.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for interventional radiology procedures and explain imaging processes.
- Operate radiographic and ultrasound equipment to capture high-quality diagnostic images.
- Assist physicians with imaging guidance during interventional procedures such as angioplasty, stent placement, and vascular studies.
- Ensure compliance with radiation safety standards and protective measures.
- Maintain and troubleshoot imaging equipment to ensure readiness.
- Document imaging activities and patient information accurately in medical records.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and technologists to provide coordinated patient care.
- Monitor patient status and provide support during procedures.
- Adhere to infection control, safety, and hospital policies.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology, Sonography, or related field.
- Demonstrated experience in interventional radiology or cardiovascular imaging.
- Strong knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, and imaging techniques.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work effectively in high-stress, fast-paced environments.
- Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years.
Preferred Qualifications (if any)
- Experience with interventional cardiology or vascular procedures.
- Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Advanced training in electrophysiology or peripheral vascular imaging.
Certifications (if any)
One of the following certifications is required:
- ARDMS – Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS)
- ARDMS – Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT)
- ARRT – Vascular Interventional Radiography
- ARRT – Cardiac Interventional Radiography
- ARRT – Radiography
- CCI – Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS)
- CCI – Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS)
- CCI – Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS)
- CCI – Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS)
Additionally:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – required.
