Job Summary
• Monitor patient physiological responses to therapy and report adverse reactions to physicians
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to support patient care and assist in procedures
• Operate and maintain respiratory therapy equipment safely and effectively
• Provide emergency respiratory care as needed
• Educate patients on treatment procedures to ensure understanding and cooperation
Key Responsibilities
• Monitor and interpret arterial blood gases, vital signs, blood chemistry, and lung function
• Assist physicians during medical procedures involving respiratory therapy
• Set up and operate therapeutic equipment including:
• Mechanical ventilators
• Gas administration systems
• Environmental control systems
• Aerosol generators
• Follow specified treatment parameters and physician prescriptions
• Provide emergency interventions including:
• Cardiopulmonary resuscitation
• External cardiac massage
• Artificial respiration
• Inspect, test, clean, and maintain respiratory therapy equipment
• Maintain accurate patient charts with therapy and identification details
• Measure arterial blood gases and lung capacity
• Relay blood analysis results to the physician
• Conduct emergency visits for equipment issues and coordinate repairs
• Explain treatment procedures to patients to ensure cooperation
• Check and assess patient pulmonary function
Required Qualifications
• Valid RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) certification
• MA Respiratory Care license
• BLS certification
• Fully vaccinated for COVID-19
• Updated professional resume
• Two professional references (preferably from supervisors or managers)
