  • Job Summary
    The Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room provides specialized nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. This role involves preparing the operating room, assisting during surgeries, and ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the perioperative process. The RN works closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care.

    Key Responsibilities
    1. Prepare the operating room by ensuring all necessary instruments, equipment, and supplies are sterile and available.
    2. Assist surgical teams during procedures by anticipating needs and providing instruments and materials promptly.
    3. Monitor patients’ vital signs and overall condition before, during, and after surgery.
    4. Maintain aseptic techniques and enforce infection control protocols.
    5. Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure patient safety and effective communication throughout the procedure.
    6. Document nursing care, patient observations, and any intraoperative events accurately and promptly.
    7. Provide preoperative and postoperative patient education and support.
    8. Respond quickly to emergencies or complications during surgery.
    9. Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.

    Required Qualifications
    1. Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment.
    2. Prior experience in an operating room or surgical nursing environment preferred.
    3. Knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, and aseptic techniques.
    4. Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.
    5. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
    6. Ability to handle stressful situations and maintain focus during complex procedures.
    7. Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred or required depending on facility.

    Certifications
    1. Valid RN license (required).
    2. BLS certification (required).
    3. ACLS certification (preferred or required depending on the employer).
