Job Summary
The Registered Nurse – Interventional Radiology Manager oversees nursing operations within the Interventional Radiology (IR) department. This role ensures the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care, manages nursing staff, coordinates workflows, and collaborates with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes in a fast-paced procedural environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direction to nursing staff within the Interventional Radiology unit.
- Oversee daily operations, including patient scheduling, preparation, and post-procedure care.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and best practices in patient safety.
- Collaborate with physicians, technologists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Monitor patient progress and intervene promptly in case of complications.
- Manage staffing levels, assignments, and performance evaluations.
- Develop and implement training programs for nursing staff to maintain clinical competency.
- Support quality improvement initiatives and participate in departmental audits.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient care, procedures, and outcomes.
- Serve as a resource for patients and families, providing education and emotional support.
- Assist in budget management, supply inventory, and resource allocation for the IR department.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state.
- Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience, with at least 2 years in Interventional Radiology or a related specialty.
- Previous leadership or management experience in a clinical setting.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications (if any)
- Prior experience managing nursing teams in procedural or surgical environments.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Advanced training in patient education and counseling.
Certifications (if any)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.
- Certified Radiology Nurse (CRN) preferred.
- Leadership or management certification is a plus.
