  • Job Summary
    The Registered Nurse (Transplant) provides specialized nursing care to patients undergoing organ transplantation, including pre-transplant evaluation, perioperative management, and post-transplant recovery. This role involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care and support to transplant patients and their families throughout the continuum of care.

    Key Responsibilities
    1. Deliver comprehensive nursing care to pre- and post-transplant patients in accordance with established clinical protocols.
    2. Perform patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and evaluate responses to treatments and medications.
    3. Coordinate care between physicians, surgeons, pharmacists, dietitians, and other members of the transplant team.
    4. Educate patients and families regarding transplant procedures, medications, recovery expectations, and lifestyle modifications.
    5. Administer immunosuppressive therapies and monitor for potential side effects or complications.
    6. Maintain detailed and accurate documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
    7. Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and assist in discharge planning to ensure a smooth transition of care.
    8. Adhere to infection control, safety, and quality improvement standards.
    9. Support ongoing research and education initiatives within the transplant program.

    Required Qualifications
    1. Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
    2. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) accepted with relevant experience.
    3. Minimum 2 years of recent acute care nursing experience, preferably in transplant, medical-surgical, or critical care settings.
    4. Strong assessment, critical thinking, and patient education skills.
    5. Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

    Preferred Qualifications
    1. Previous experience in organ transplant, renal, hepatic, or cardiac transplant programs.
    2. Certified Clinical Transplant Nurse (CCTN) or other relevant specialty certification.
    3. Experience with Epic or other electronic health record systems.

    Certifications
    1. Registered Nurse (RN) license (state-specific).
    2. Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
    3. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred or required depending on unit.
    4. Certified Clinical Transplant Nurse (CCTN) preferred.
