JOB SUMMARY
The Registered Nurse – Interventional Radiology provides specialized nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic radiological procedures. This role involves assessing patient needs, preparing them for procedures, monitoring during interventions, and ensuring post-procedure recovery. The RN collaborates with radiologists, technologists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate care in a high-tech environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess patients to determine mental, physical, and spiritual needs
- Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
- Provide clear explanations and instructions to patients and their responsible persons
- Use clinical judgment to recognize and report changes in patient condition
- Promote a healthy workplace environment through professional communication and conflict management
- Fulfill Core Measure responsibilities related to patient care
- Participate in continuing education to maintain clinical competency
- Maintain complete and accurate medical records
Required Qualifications
- Current Illinois Registered Nurse license
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- ACLS certification
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Interventional Radiology or related specialties such as ICU, PCU, Cardiac Services, or Emergency Room
- Familiarity with SDS Procedure Room, Electrocardiology, OP Cardiovascular Center, and Infusion Therapy Services
