  • Job Summary
    We are seeking a detail-oriented Risk Management Specialist to join our healthcare team. This role involves reviewing and adjudicating safety event reports, analyzing lawsuits and claims, and supporting risk mitigation strategies to ensure patient and staff safety. The position is a temporary assignment to cover an 8-week leave.

    Department Overview
    The Risk Management department consists of three specialists who handle lawsuits and claims, analyze documentation, and determine when to engage malpractice insurers. The team focuses on identifying, mitigating, and preventing risks to protect both staff and patient safety.

    Key Responsibilities
    1. Review, analyze, triage, and close safety event reports
    2. Conduct Root Cause Analyses (RCA) on serious safety events
    3. Evaluate lawsuits and claims to determine appropriate actions
    4. Collaborate with malpractice insurers when necessary
    5. Support hospital operations by identifying and mitigating risks
    6. Provide guidance on risk prevention strategies to enhance patient and staff safety

    Required Qualifications
    1. Prior Risk Management experience in a healthcare setting
    2. Ability to analyze and filter through legal documents
    3. Knowledge of Serious Reportable Events (SREs) and ability to perform Root Cause Analyses (RCA)
    4. Strong understanding of hospital operations, risk mitigation, and malpractice processes

    Preferred Qualifications (if any)
    1. Master’s degree in Nursing or related field (not required, but preferred)
    2. Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills

    Certifications (if any)
    1. Relevant risk management or healthcare compliance certifications (preferred but not required)
