  • Job Title: Director of Finance
    Job Location: Boston, MA
    Shift Timings: 08:00 AM to 05:00 PM [Monday to Friday] - Hybrid schedule (minimum of 3 days on-site.)
    Job Type: Direct Hire/Permanent

    The Director of Finance is responsible for managing complex budgets, accounting operations, and revenue cycle performance while driving automation and strategic financial modeling in a fast-paced, consensus-driven academic medical environment.

    Key Responsibilities:
    1. Financial Leadership & Strategy
    2. Acts as the primary financial advisor to NSI Executive Leadership and Department Chairs.
    3. Leads financial integration efforts and helps establish the infrastructure for the newly formed Neuroscience Institute.
    4. Develops long-term financial models, projections, and impact analyses for new initiatives and physician recruitment.
    5. Budget & Operations Management
    6. Directs the preparation of annual operating and capital budgets across multiple hospital and physician organizations.
    7. Oversees all accounting functions: P&L statements, cash flow, internal controls, and audit compliance.
    8. Manages complex funding sources, including endowments, sundry funds, and faculty compensation plans.
    9. Revenue Cycle & Efficiency
    10. Serves as the primary liaison to Revenue Cycle Operations (RCO) to optimize billing, coding, and collections.
    11. Implements process improvements and automation (utilizing Workday and Strata) to increase departmental efficiency.
    12. Monitors operational performance and implements cost-containment strategies where necessary.

    Core Requirements:
    MUST HAVES:
    1. Academic Medical Center Experience: 7-10 years of healthcare experience specifically within an Academic Medical Center (AMC), with a strong background in finance, accounting or operations management
    2. Expertise: Superior financial acumen with deep experience in clinical revenue cycles and academic medical accounting.
    3. Leadership: Proven ability to navigate complex, high-volume environments and lead through influence and consensus.
    4. Communication: Ability to distill complex data into executive summaries for senior leadership.
    5. Drive: Self-motivated and resourceful, with a commitment to integrity and high-performing standards.
    6. Systems knowledge: Hands on experience using Workday and Strata is preferred.
    NICE TO HAVES:
    - Integration Experience: Proven experience with clinical or business integrations, specifically the ability to architect one cohesive financial model out of historically separate departments.
    - Systems Knowledge: Hands-on experience using Workday and Strata.
    - Physician Finance: Experience managing physician compensation plans, clinical endowments, and faculty packages.

    Education:
    1. CPA or a Master's degree (in finance, business, public, or health management) is required
