Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Inpatient Psychiatry Unit provides compassionate and comprehensive care to patients with acute psychiatric conditions. This position plays a vital role in maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment and delivering evidence-based nursing care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care, including assessments, medication administration, and monitoring of patient progress.
- Participate in treatment planning and implementation in collaboration with physicians and mental health professionals.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards.
- Serve as Charge Nurse when assigned, providing leadership and coordination of care for the unit.
- Float to similar units within the hospital as needed (e.g., Acute Rehabilitation Unit – Inpatient Addiction Rehab Unit).
- Adhere to hospital policies, including dress code (navy-blue uniform for RNs).
- Work assigned schedule and participate in required rotations, including weekends and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications (if any)
- Prior experience in psychiatric or behavioral health nursing.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification.
- Leadership or charge nurse experience.
Certifications (if any)
- BLS required.
- ACLS preferred.
