Job Summary
We are seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist – Pediatrics/Pulmonary to provide specialized respiratory care for pediatric patients with acute and chronic cardiopulmonary conditions. The ideal candidate will assess, treat, and monitor patients requiring respiratory therapy while collaborating with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver safe, high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
• Assess, evaluate, and provide respiratory therapy services to pediatric patients with respiratory and cardiopulmonary conditions.
• Administer respiratory treatments, oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, and inhaled medications as prescribed.
• Monitor and manage patients receiving mechanical ventilation, non-invasive ventilation, and airway support.
• Perform pulmonary function testing and other respiratory diagnostic procedures as appropriate.
• Monitor patient response to therapy and communicate changes in condition to the healthcare team.
• Assist with emergency airway management and cardiopulmonary resuscitation when required.
• Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, treatment plans, medications, and home respiratory equipment.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Inspect, operate, and maintain respiratory care equipment to ensure proper functionality.
• Adhere to infection prevention, patient safety, and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support evidence-based respiratory care practices.
Required Qualifications
• Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential.
• Active Respiratory Care license in the applicable state.
• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
• Experience providing respiratory care in pediatric and pulmonary settings.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• Strong knowledge of respiratory therapy procedures, pulmonary disease management, and mechanical ventilation.
• Excellent clinical assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
Preferred Qualifications
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Experience in a pediatric hospital, pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), or pediatric pulmonary specialty setting.
• Experience performing pulmonary function testing and respiratory diagnostics.
• Knowledge of evidence-based pediatric respiratory care practices.
Certifications
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
• State Respiratory Care License.
• Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) preferred.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
