Job Summary
The Registered Nurse – Operating Room provides perioperative nursing care by assisting surgeons and anesthesiologists during surgical procedures. This role ensures patient safety, maintains sterile technique, and supports the surgical team throughout the operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for surgical procedures through assessment, documentation, and education.
- Assist surgical team during operations by anticipating needs and providing instruments.
- Monitor patient status throughout the perioperative process.
- Maintain sterile environment and enforce infection control protocols.
- Manage surgical supplies and equipment to ensure readiness.
- Document patient care accurately in medical records.
- Communicate with patients and families regarding surgical procedures and recovery expectations.
Required Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year in perioperative or surgical care.
- Strong knowledge of sterile techniques and surgical procedures.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Prior experience in operating room nursing.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
- CNOR (Certified Nurse Operating Room) certification is a plus.
