Job Description:

  • We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. 
    The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with venipuncture, specimen preparation, and patient interaction across diverse populations. 
    Your role is critical in ensuring specimen integrity and a smooth, comfortable experience for patients during collection.

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws using straight and butterfly needles
    • Collect and store blood, urine, and other specimens following established protocols
    • Properly label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required
    • Match lab requisitions to specimens accurately and confirm test orders
    • Ensure samples are stored at appropriate temperatures and packaged for transport
    • Maintain and update patient records, including confirming test requisitions and documentation
    • Follow infection control and decontamination procedures in compliance with OSHA and DEP guidelines
    • Answer incoming phone calls regarding lab results and other inquiries
    • Maintain a clean and organized work area
    • Attend annual department trainings and adhere to all PPE and safety regulations
    • Assist with other related duties as assigned

    Requirements:
    • Proven experience as a phlebotomist or in a similar clinical setting
    • Proficiency with straight needle and butterfly venipuncture techniques
    • Ability to work with patients across all age groups and backgrounds
    • Knowledge of specimen storage and transportation protocols
    • Familiarity with laboratory information systems and electronic medical records
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational ability
    • Knowledge of and adherence to OSHA, DEP, and CLIA regulations
    • High school diploma or equivalent; Phlebotomy certification preferred
    • Bilingual English/Spanish
    • HM needs candidate to have 1 to 6 years of experience. Geriatric experience needed.
