Job Summary
The Inbound Patient Account Services Specialist advocates for patients by embodying the principle of “Putting People First.” This role provides hands-on support to help individuals navigate their healthcare journey, delivering exceptional customer service, resolving billing inquiries, and identifying potential trends for leadership review.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a thorough understanding of CVS Specialty processes and how customer service impacts the patient journey from order to reimbursement.
- Assist patients in navigating complex billing and reimbursement processes to ensure timely and efficient resolution.
- Build trusting relationships with patients through meaningful and empathetic conversations.
- Manage challenging or emotional situations with professionalism, urgency, and compassion.
- Accurately document all patient interactions in the appropriate Revenue Cycle system.
- Record, review, and follow up on patient concerns to ensure resolution.
- Gather and analyze patient information to determine eligibility for payment plans.
- Meet established call center metrics, including call volume and quality standards.
- Collaborate effectively with other departments using technology tools.
- Demonstrate an enthusiastic, professional, and caring presence during patient interactions.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 6 months’ experience in healthcare billing, reimbursement, collections practices, and/or infusion services.
- Proficiency with computers, including at least 1 year of experience using Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a customer service focus.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Demonstrated ability to provide emotional support and empathy to patients.
- Flexibility to work 8-hour shifts between 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM EST, Monday through Friday, as determined by business needs.
- Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years.
Preferred Qualifications (if any)
- 1 year of experience in healthcare billing, collections practices, and/or infusion services.
- 1 year of experience in pharmacy billing and reimbursement.
Education
- Verifiable High School Diploma or GED required.
