  • JOB SUMMARY
    This role is responsible for preparing process and finished product samples and performing analytical testing using instrumental and wet chemistry procedures. The position requires accurate recording of results using computerized data systems and daily process monitoring tests throughout the plant. Responsibilities include maintaining product samples for verification, documenting all testing procedures, and notifying operations of necessary adjustments. The role also involves entering and reporting data via a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), understanding production processes, and potentially making recommendations to operators to ensure product quality. Additionally, the position entails performing light maintenance and calibration on laboratory equipment, keeping records of test results, managing laboratory supplies, and ensuring equipment accuracy by comparing readouts with standards. A neat and clean work area, effective working relationships with colleagues, and adherence to all safety regulations and company, FDA, GMP, BATF, EPA, OSHA standards are also crucial.

    Key Responsibilities
    - Prepare process and finished product samples.
    - Perform analytical testing using instrumental and wet chemistry procedures.
    - Record results using computerized data systems.
    - Perform daily process monitoring tests throughout the plant.
    - Maintain samples of tested product for potential confirmation of test results.
    - Document results of all testing procedures and notify operations of required adjustments.
    - Enter and report data using a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
    - Understand production processes and make recommendations to operators for product quality.
    - Perform light maintenance and calibration on laboratory equipment.
    - Maintain on-going records of testing procedures and input data into the computer daily.
    - Maintain adequate testing supplies and notify supervisor of re-order needs.
    - Continually compare equipment readouts with samples of standards to ensure accuracy.
    - Maintain a neat and clean working area, washing equipment and placing it in proper storage.
    - Maintain an effective working relationship with fellow employees.
    - Perform duties in a safe manner, utilizing approved safety equipment.
    - Adhere to all FDA, GMP, BATF, EPA, OSHA and employer standards and guidelines.

    - Familiarity with current commercial software applications (Excel, Word).
    - Experience with lab documentation.
    - Experience with operating standard lab equipment (i.e., pH meter, balances and spectrophotometer).
    - Sufficient math skills to perform calculations associated with lab testing.

    Preferred Qualifications
    - 2 or more years science degree.
    - Good attendance history.
    - Excellent safety record and awareness.
    - Previous plant experience.
