Job Summary
The Endo Technician provides technical support for endoscopy procedures, ensuring proper preparation, operation, and maintenance of equipment. This role involves assisting physicians and nurses during procedures, maintaining a sterile environment, and supporting patient care through equipment handling and reprocessing.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare endoscopy suites and ensure all equipment is functioning properly prior to procedures.
- Assist physicians and nurses during endoscopic procedures by handling instruments and equipment.
- Clean, disinfect, and reprocess endoscopy scopes and accessories according to infection control standards.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, cleaning, and repairs.
- Monitor inventory of supplies and assist with ordering and stocking.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide patient support as directed by clinical staff, ensuring comfort and safety.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in a healthcare or endoscopy setting.
- Knowledge of infection control practices and equipment sterilization.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols accurately.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications (if any)
- Certification as a Certified Endoscopy Technician (CET) or equivalent.
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Familiarity with GI/endoscopy procedures and terminology.
Certifications (if any)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required).
- CET or other endoscopy-related certification (preferred).
