  • JOB SUMMARY
    Seeking a skilled Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) for a travel assignment to provide exceptional patient care in a dynamic surgical environment.

    Key Responsibilities
    - Prepare and maintain the sterile operating room environment for cardiovascular surgical procedures.
    - Assist the surgical team by anticipating needs and providing instruments, supplies, and equipment.
    - Perform surgical technologist duties during procedures including CABGs, AVR, MVR, Thoracotomy, ECMO, Pacemakers, Trach, and MAZE.
    - Ensure all counts (sponges, sharps, instruments) are correct before, during, and after surgical procedures.
    - Maintain, clean, and organize surgical instrumentation and equipment.
    - Adhere to strict aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
    - Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, and other members of the surgical team.
    - Document relevant patient information as required.

    Schedule / Shift
    - Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM.
    - On-call rotation: 2 weekends per month and 2 weekdays per week (Wednesdays and Thursdays). On-call coverage will include Kendall and Mercy facilities.

    Unit / Specialty
    - CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room)
    - The unit has 1 bed and typically involves 3 staff members.
    - Staff includes OR RN and OR ST (CVOR).
    - Day Shift: 0700-1930, Night Shift: 1930-0700.
    - Patient Ratios: 1:1.

    Required Qualifications
    - Must possess a Surgical Technologist certification.
    - Must have current BLS and NIH certifications.

    Experience
    - Demonstrated experience in a Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) setting.
    - Experience with procedures such as CABGs, AVR, MVR, Thoracotomy, ECMO, Pacemakers, Trachs, and MAZE.
    - Experience with Meditech documentation system.

    Skills
    - Proficient in sterile technique and aseptic practice.
    - Excellent knowledge of surgical instruments and equipment specific to CVOR procedures.
    - Ability to anticipate the needs of the surgical team.
    - Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    - Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
    - Adaptability to a fast-paced surgical environment.
    - Ability to function well independently.

    - Meditech

    Patient Population
    - Adult cardiovascular surgical patients.

    Floating / On-Call
    - May be required to travel and provide coverage at other facilities, including Mercy, Kendall, and Aventura, at times.
    - Must be available for scheduled on-call duties as outlined in the schedule.
