  • Job Summary
    The Phlebotomist Technician collects blood specimens for analysis and processes accessions requisitions into the Laboratory Computer System. This role requires travel experience, pediatric patient expertise, and proficiency with Meditech and/or Mobilab systems. The technician works under the direction of the Phlebotomy Supervisor, Assistant Supervisor, and Director of Laboratory Services.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Collect blood specimens from newborns, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.
    • Respond to stat requests promptly, ensuring priority treatment and communication with staff.
    • Maintain documentation by logging activities and signing required forms.
    • Perform accessioning duties including patient identification, test entry, and specimen labeling.
    • Transport specimens between departments as needed.
    • Support specimen processing and assist with incoming samples.
    • Travel to facilities such as nursing homes, patient homes, and satellite labs for collections.
    • Assist operations by covering understaffed areas, starting glucose tolerance tests, and answering phones.
    • Comply with policies and hospital regulations.
    • Promote service excellence in all patient interactions.
    • Maintain safety and participate in quality improvement activities.
    • Support patient rights to care, privacy, and respect.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications
    • High School diploma or GED.
    • Phlebotomy certification required.
    • Minimum 3 years of phlebotomy experience.
    • Experience drawing pediatric patients.
    • Proficiency with Meditech and/or Mobilab systems.
    • Travel experience required.

    Preferred Qualifications
    1. Experience in hospital or laboratory settings.
    2. Strong communication and organizational skills.

    Certifications
    1. Phlebotomy certification (required).
