JOB SUMMARY
The Cardiovascular Operating Room Tech (Allied) plays a crucial role in assisting cardiac surgeons and the surgical team during cardiovascular procedures. This role requires specialized knowledge of cardiac anatomy, surgical instrumentation, and sterile technique to ensure patient safety and optimal surgical outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare the operating room for cardiovascular procedures, including setting up sterile equipment, instruments, and supplies.
- Assist the surgeon and surgical team by anticipating needs and handing instruments, supplies, and equipment.
- Maintain a sterile field throughout the surgical procedure.
- Operate and monitor specialized cardiovascular equipment as directed.
- Participate in the surgical counts of instruments, sponges, and needles.
- Assist with patient positioning, draping, and preparation for surgery.
- Provide hemostasis by applying clamps, sutures, and electrocautery.
- Suction fluids and manage surgical field visibility.
- Transfer instruments and equipment safely between sterile and non-sterile areas.
- Perform post-operative duties, including room cleanup, equipment sterilization, and restocking.
- Document relevant information as required by hospital policy and procedure.

Schedule / Shift

Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Successful completion of an accredited surgical technology program or equivalent experience.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Certifications
- BLS certification.

Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Surgical Technologist or Cardiovascular Operating Room Technician.
- Experience in a cardiovascular operating room setting is highly preferred.

Skills
- Proficient in sterile technique and operating room procedures.
- Knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy and surgical procedures.
- Familiarity with specialized cardiovascular instruments and equipment.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

EMR / Systems
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and charting systems preferred.
