Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Cardiac Catheterization Lab Registered Nurse to support interventional cardiology services in an acute care setting. The ideal candidate will have prior Cath Lab experience, preferably within a Level I Trauma Center, and will demonstrate strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and collaboration skills. This role requires active participation in day-shift operations with scheduled on-call coverage to support emergent procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize the nursing process and critical thinking skills to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
- Provide direct nursing care before, during, and after cardiac catheterization and interventional procedures
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing practices, policies, and applicable regulations
- Monitor patient status, respond to changes in condition, and escalate concerns through appropriate clinical channels
- Ensure accurate, timely, and comprehensive clinical documentation in accordance with organizational standards
- Develop and execute individualized patient care plans based on physician orders and patient needs
- Provide patient and family education appropriate to the level of understanding and clinical situation
- Support patient safety initiatives and participate in performance improvement and shared governance activities
- Serve as a clinical resource to other departments and contribute to continuity of care
- Participate in peer review, professional development, and evidence-based practice initiatives
- Maintain patient throughput and provide telephone triage support as applicable
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Illinois
- Minimum of 3 years of Registered Nurse experience, including at least 1 year of critical care experience
- Prior cardiovascular intervention and Cath Lab experience
- Ability to work day shift with on-call rotation, including weeknights, weekends, and holidays
- Strong clinical assessment, communication, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a Level I Trauma Center
- Advanced experience in interventional cardiology or electrophysiology procedures
Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification
