Job Summary
Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse provides specialized nursing care in the Cardio Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) to pediatric patients with conditions ranging from moderate to highly complex. The RN works collaboratively with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, high-quality patient care in a Level 1 pediatric critical care environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assume responsibility for an assigned group of pediatric patients.
- Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed treatments.
- Assist physicians during patient examinations and minor diagnostic procedures.
- Monitor physiological data and observe patient conditions, intervening when necessary.
- Administer medications as prescribed.
- Initiate, regulate, and monitor IV infusions and blood products.
- Provide high-quality patient care in a pediatric critical care environment.
- Communicate care plans effectively with patients’ families and caregivers.
- Educate families on hospital procedures and care processes.
- Coordinate referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
- Delegate tasks appropriately to support staff.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- Current RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years.
- Level 1 pediatric critical care experience and CVICU experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Prior Pediatric CVICU experience preferred.
Certifications
- Current RN License (State or multistate compact).
- BLS certification (American Heart Association).
- PALS certification (American Heart Association).
