Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant – Per Diem to provide both clinical and administrative support in a healthcare setting. The role involves assisting practitioners with patient care, performing intake procedures, administering medications and immunizations, and ensuring exam rooms are prepared and compliant with safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to organizational policies, procedures, and applicable local, state, and federal laws.
- Utilize effective communication and interpersonal skills when interacting with patients and healthcare team members.
- Complete patient intake, including vital signs, height, weight, and hearing/vision screenings.
- Identify care gaps and schedule appropriate visits or procedures.
- Prepare consent, school, and work forms for provider review and signature.
- Ensure exam rooms are clean, organized, and stocked with essential supplies and equipment.
- Perform point-of-care testing.
- Administer immunizations and medications within scope of practice, providing patients with the most recent Vaccine Information Statement (VIS).
- Assist practitioners during examinations and minor procedures, including patient positioning, draping, and sterile instrument handling.
- Document patient care and education in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Actively participate in Unit Based Team (UBT) meetings, staff meetings, department-specific education, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Perform other in-scope duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Active Medical Assistant (MA) certification.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to perform clinical tasks such as patient intake, point-of-care testing, and immunization administration.
- Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Knowledge of healthcare policies, procedures, and compliance standards.
- Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years.
Preferred Qualifications (if any)
- Prior experience in outpatient or multi-specialty clinical settings.
- Experience assisting with minor procedures and patient education.
- Familiarity with scheduling systems and care gap management.
Certifications (if any)
- Active Medical Assistant (MA) certification required.
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
