Job Summary
The Medical Assistant supports physicians and clinical staff in providing patient-centered care within the Internal Medicine department. This role involves assisting with clinical procedures, managing patient documentation, and ensuring smooth daily operations in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist physicians and nurses with patient examinations and procedures.
- Record patient histories, vital signs, and other clinical information accurately.
- Prepare exam rooms and maintain cleanliness and readiness for patient visits.
- Schedule appointments and manage patient flow to ensure efficiency.
- Support administrative tasks including documentation, insurance verification, and patient communication.
- Utilize EMR systems (Epic preferred) for accurate data entry and record-keeping.
- Maintain confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA standards.
- Provide compassionate and professional interaction with patients, families, and staff.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant training program.
- Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications (if any)
- Experience in Internal Medicine or primary care.
- Proficiency with Epic EMR system.
Certifications (if any)
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred.
