Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) team. This role involves delivering specialized nursing care to critically ill patients with complex cardiac and vascular conditions, including those recovering from open-heart surgery, cardiac catheterization, and advanced cardiac interventions. Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to critically ill cardiovascular patients.
- Monitor and manage hemodynamic status using advanced equipment and technology.
- Administer medications, including vasoactive and anti-arrhythmic agents.
- Assist with and respond to emergency interventions such as code blues and rapid responses.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including cardiologists, surgeons, and respiratory therapists.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans and recovery processes.
- Ensure adherence to all CVICU protocols, safety procedures, and infection control standards.
Required Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Minimum of 1–2 years of ICU experience, preferably in a cardiac or CVICU setting.
- Strong understanding of cardiovascular pathophysiology and intensive care nursing.
- Proficient in interpreting cardiac rhythms and using invasive monitoring equipment.
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with post-operative open-heart or cardiac surgery patients.
- Familiarity with ECMO, intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP), or ventricular assist devices (VADs).
- Previous experience with Epic or similar EMR systems.
Certifications
- Valid RN license.
- BLS and ACLS certifications required.
- CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse) certification preferred.
