Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide bedside care and support to terminally ill patients in a hospice setting. This role focuses on delivering comfort, dignity, and quality of life during end-of-life care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct bedside nursing care to hospice patients.
- Monitor and record vital signs, symptoms, and overall patient condition.
- Administer prescribed medications, including pain management drugs.
- Perform wound care, catheter care, and other basic nursing procedures.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting).
- Assess pain levels and implement comfort-focused interventions.
- Observe and report changes in physical, emotional, and mental status.
- Communicate patient updates to the RN, physician, and hospice care team.
- Educate patients and families on medications, care plans, and disease progression.
- Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and families.
- Participate in interdisciplinary care team discussions.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care and patient responses.
- Follow hospice protocols, safety standards, and infection control guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.
- Experience in direct patient care, preferably in hospice or palliative care.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care.
- Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working with terminally ill patients.
- Familiarity with hospice care protocols and interdisciplinary team collaboration.
Certifications
- CPR certification required.
- Additional hospice or palliative care certifications preferred.
