Job Summary
Client is seeking experienced and compassionate Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our Labor & Delivery (L&D) team. The RN will provide comprehensive, patient-centered care to obstetric patients throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and immediate postpartum periods. This role requires strong clinical skills, critical thinking, and the ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to antepartum, intrapartum, and immediate postpartum patients.
- Monitor maternal and fetal well-being, including interpretation of fetal heart rate tracings.
- Administer medications and IV therapies per physician orders and hospital protocols.
- Assist physicians and midwives during labor and delivery procedures.
- Perform vaginal exams and assess labor progression.
- Support cesarean section procedures as needed.
- Educate patients and families on labor, delivery, recovery, and newborn care.
- Respond to obstetric emergencies (e.g., hemorrhage, preeclampsia, fetal distress).
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure quality patient outcomes.
- Adhere to infection control, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Schedule & Availability Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Active state Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience (preferred).
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
- Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification.
- Fetal Monitoring certification (preferred).
- Strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in high-acuity L&D settings.
- Experience with electronic fetal monitoring systems.
- Previous travel or per diem nursing experience.
Certifications
- BLS, ACLS, NRP required.
- Fetal Monitoring certification preferred.
