  • Job Summary
    The Registered Nurse (RN) – Psychiatric Pediatrics provides specialized nursing care to children and adolescents experiencing acute psychiatric conditions. This role requires advanced clinical skills, compassion, and the ability to respond effectively in high-stress situations. The RN collaborates with physicians, behavioral health professionals, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver safe, effective, and therapeutic care tailored to the unique needs of pediatric patients.

    Key Responsibilities
    1. Provide direct patient care including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation for pediatric psychiatric patients.
    2. Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and hospital protocols.
    3. Monitor patient conditions, recognize behavioral and clinical changes, and respond promptly to emergencies.
    4. Support patients and families through education, counseling, and discharge planning.
    5. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans.
    6. Document patient care accurately and timely in the electronic health record system.
    7. Uphold infection control, patient safety, and quality standards.
    8. Participate in ongoing professional development and unit-based initiatives.

    Required Qualifications
    1. Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
    2. Minimum of 2 years of experience in psychiatric nursing, with at least 1 year in pediatric settings.
    3. Strong knowledge of psychiatric disorders, therapeutic interventions, and pediatric care principles.
    4. Excellent communication, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills.

    Preferred Qualifications (if any)
    1. Prior experience in inpatient pediatric psychiatric units.
    2. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
    3. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.

    Certifications (if any)
    1. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
    2. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
    3. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred.
