  • Job Summary
    The Registered Nurse – Psych provides patient-centered care on a combined Psychiatry and Medical-Surgical (MS) floor. This role requires expertise in both psychiatric nursing and medical-surgical care, ensuring safe and effective treatment for patients with complex behavioral and medical needs. The RN collaborates with physicians, tele-techs, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive care.

    Key Responsibilities
    1. Provide nursing care to patients with psychiatric and medical-surgical conditions.
    2. Collaborate with tele-techs for remote telemetry monitoring.
    3. Perform and interpret 12-lead EKGs as part of patient assessment.
    4. Administer medications and monitor patient responses.
    5. Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in compliance with hospital standards.
    6. Ensure patient safety and maintain therapeutic environments.
    7. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
    8. Support crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques when necessary.

    Required Qualifications
    1. Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program.
    2. Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice or Compact RN License (eNLC).
    3. Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience with psychiatric and medical-surgical patients.
    4. Strong knowledge of psychiatric nursing practices and medical-surgical procedures.
    5. Ability to work collaboratively with tele-techs and interdisciplinary teams.
    6. Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years.
    Preferred Qualifications
    1. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
    2. Prior experience in combined Psych/Med-Surg units.
    3. Experience in telemetry monitoring.

    Certifications
    1. Basic Life Support (BLS) – required.
    2. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – required.
    3. Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) – required.
