Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team. The ICU RN will be responsible for providing advanced care to patients with life-threatening conditions or comorbidities requiring sophisticated organ support and invasive monitoring. This challenging and fast-paced environment demands quick thinking, strong clinical knowledge, and the ability to care for patients with a wide variety of complex conditions, including overdose, post-surgery recovery, trauma, and chronic illnesses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide critical care to patients with life-threatening conditions, including those requiring organ support and intensive monitoring.
- Continuously assess and monitor vital signs, laboratory results, and clinical data to evaluate patient conditions and determine necessary interventions.
- Administer medications and therapies in alignment with care plans, ensuring safe, accurate dosing and monitoring of side effects.
- Operate advanced medical equipment for invasive monitoring, ventilation, and other critical care procedures.
- Respond quickly to changes in patient conditions, implementing appropriate interventions and collaborating with the healthcare team.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient care in the EPIC electronic medical record system.
- Work closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and execute comprehensive care plans.
- Provide emotional support and education to patients and families, explaining procedures and offering comfort.
- Adhere to infection control protocols, ensuring a sterile and safe care environment.
- Participate in continuous education and professional development to stay current with advancements in critical care nursing.
Required Qualifications:
- Active RN License in State
- BLS (AHA) and ACLS certification required.
- Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience, with demonstrated ability to manage critically ill patients across various conditions.
- Proficiency in EPIC or other electronic charting systems.
- Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to make quick decisions in high-pressure situations.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with interdisciplinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in specific ICU specialties (e.g., cardiovascular, trauma, neurological).
- Critical Care Nursing Certification (CCRN) or similar advanced certifications.
- Advanced knowledge and experience with critical care procedures and technologies.
License/Certification Requirements:
- BLS (AHA) and ACLS certifications required.
- 2 years of ICU experience required.
- State or Crisis License not eligible for emergency license if there have been previous disciplinary actions on the license.
