Job Summary
The Histotechnologist performs complex medical laboratory tests to support the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. This role involves reviewing laboratory findings for accuracy, supervising clinical studies, instructing staff on laboratory equipment use, and developing and standardizing procedures. The technologist ensures quality assurance across laboratory operations and provides leadership to laboratory staff engaged in testing and research.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform and review complex medical laboratory tests to ensure accuracy of results.
- Supervise clinical studies and research projects.
- Instruct staff on the operation, calibration, and maintenance of laboratory equipment (e.g., spectrophotometers, calorimeters, flame photometers, computer-controlled analyzers).
- Develop, standardize, evaluate, and modify laboratory procedures and techniques.
- Establish and monitor quality assurance programs to ensure accuracy of laboratory results.
- Supervise, train, and direct laboratory assistants, technicians, and technologists.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety and regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in life sciences or related field.
- 5–7 years of experience in medical laboratory testing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supervising laboratory staff and research projects.
- Familiarity with advanced laboratory instrumentation and quality assurance programs.
