Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled and attentive Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) team. The RN will provide immediate postoperative care to patients recovering from anesthesia following surgery or diagnostic procedures. This role requires keen clinical assessment skills, effective communication, and the ability to work closely with the surgical team to ensure patient safety and comfort.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor patients recovering from anesthesia, assessing vital signs, airway status, pain levels, and neurological responses.
- Administer medications, pain management interventions, and intravenous fluids as prescribed.
- Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to manage patient care plans.
- Identify and respond promptly to any postoperative complications or adverse reactions.
- Provide patient and family education on postoperative care and recovery expectations.
- Maintain detailed and accurate patient records and documentation in compliance with hospital protocols.
- Ensure a safe and clean environment in the PACU, following infection control and safety standards.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment.
- Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience, preferably in PACU or critical care settings.
- Strong clinical skills in patient assessment, monitoring, and postoperative care.
- Ability to recognize and respond to emergencies and complications promptly.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Flexibility to work various shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Previous experience in surgical or critical care nursing.
Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – Preferred
- Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse (CPAN) – Preferred
