Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse to join our Neurology Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The RN will provide specialized care to critically ill neurological patients, ensuring the highest standards of patient safety, clinical excellence, and compassionate support for patients and families.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care in the Neurology ICU, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing interventions.
- Monitor and interpret neurological and vital signs, responding promptly to changes in patient condition.
- Administer medications, treatments, and therapies in accordance with physician orders and hospital protocols.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Operate and maintain specialized ICU equipment such as ventilators, infusion pumps, and monitoring systems.
- Provide education and emotional support to patients and families regarding neurological conditions, treatment plans, and recovery expectations.
- Document patient care accurately and maintain compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to infection control and safety protocols.
Required Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) accepted with relevant experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of critical care or ICU nursing experience.
- Strong knowledge of neurological disorders and critical care practices.
- Excellent clinical assessment, communication, and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a Neurology ICU or Neurocritical Care Unit.
- Advanced training in neurological patient management.
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required).
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (required).
- Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification (preferred).
- Neuroscience Nursing Certification (preferred).
