Job Summary
The Psychologist Advisor is responsible for conducting developmental disability eligibility reviews and determining eligibility for youth up to age 18. This position provides expert clinical guidance, supports quality assurance efforts, and ensures adherence to best practice standards. The Psychologist Advisor also participates in activities related to children’s system of care initiatives, including quality monitoring, data analysis, and special projects. Additional responsibilities include making utilization determinations, conducting peer-to-peer consultations, offering training on developmental disability eligibility processes, and coordinating care with parents, caregivers, and other child-serving systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive Developmental Disability eligibility reviews for youth up to age 18.
- Participate in clinical reviews of complex cases and address quality of care concerns.
- Provide clinical guidance to ensure adherence to best practice and regulatory standards.
- Participate in quality monitoring, data analysis, and other projects related to children’s system of care programs.
- Make utilization determinations based on clinical information and established criteria.
- Conduct peer-to-peer consultations to address quality and care coordination issues.
- Deliver training and education related to the Developmental Disability eligibility process.
- Communicate and coordinate with parents, caregivers, and other child-serving systems to support collaborative care.
- Support continuous improvement efforts within clinical programs and special initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Psychology from an accredited institution.
- Licensure: Unrestricted license to practice psychology in the applicable state.
- Experience: 5–10 years of clinical experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Strong analytical, clinical assessment, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary and cross-system teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience conducting eligibility determinations or utilization reviews within a managed care or state agency environment.
- Knowledge of systems of care and community-based behavioral health services.
- Familiarity with state and federal regulations related to developmental disabilities.
Certifications
- Active, unrestricted license to practice psychology (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) — required.
