  • JOB SUMMARY
    The GI/Endo Tech assists physicians and nurses in performing endoscopic procedures. This role is crucial for ensuring patient safety, maintaining equipment, and providing technical support during diagnostic and therapeutic gastrointestinal examinations.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Prepare the endoscopy suite for procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are readily available.
    • Clean, disinfect, and reprocess endoscopic equipment according to established protocols and manufacturer guidelines.
    • Assist the physician during endoscopic procedures by handing instruments, providing suction, and managing accessories.
    • Monitor the patient's vital signs and comfort level during the procedure, reporting any changes to the physician or nurse.
    • Document procedure details and patient information accurately.
    • Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment, reporting any shortages or damages.
    • Adhere to all infection control policies and procedures.

    Schedule / Shift
    • Day Shift
    • Monday - Friday
    • 8-Hour Shifts
    • 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM

    Required Qualifications
    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

    Certifications
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)

    Experience
    • Previous experience as an Endoscopy Technician or in a related healthcare support role is preferred.

    Skills
    • Proficient in cleaning and reprocessing endoscopic equipment.
    • Knowledge of sterile techniques and infection control.
    • Ability to assist in a fast-paced procedural environment.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.

    EMR / Systems
    • Familiarity with electronic health record systems is beneficial.

    Patient Population
    • Adults undergoing gastrointestinal endoscopic procedures.

    Unit / Specialty
    • Gastroenterology / Endoscopy

    Floating / On-Call
    • May be required to float to other related departments as needed, depending on facility requirements.
