  • Job Summary  
    The Pharmacist ensures the safe, accurate, and efficient dispensing of medications in a long-term care pharmacy setting. This role requires strong clinical interpretation skills, excellent communication, and a commitment to patient safety. The pharmacist will provide routine and emergency drug screening, information, processing, and dispensing services to support patient care and pharmacy management objectives.

    Key Responsibilities
    1. Ensure accurate entry and verification of prescription orders
    2. Maintain security and compliance within the pharmacy
    3. Adhere to required delivery schedules and timelines
    4. Verify technician-entered orders for accuracy and completeness
    5. Check content and precision of all new and refill labels and orders
    6. Oversee drug packaging and labeling for accuracy
    7. Prepare and/or supervise sterile IV drug products or solutions, as required
    8. Assist in maintaining perpetual inventory for Schedule II drugs
    9. Apply knowledge of DEA and state laws regarding controlled drug dispensing
    10. Provide coverage during evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled
    11. Ensure compliance with HIPAA and all applicable state/federal regulations
    12. Perform routine and emergency drug screening, processing, and dispensing services
    13. Support pharmacy management objectives and contribute to continuous improvement

    Education
    1. Required: Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy

    Required Skills & Experience
    1. Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years.
    2. Current license to practice pharmacy in good standing
    3. Proficiency in clinical interpretation: drug-drug, drug-disease, drug-food interactions, and allergy management
    4. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
    5. Ability to dispense medications accurately and efficiently
    6. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
    7. Excellent customer service orientation and professional demeanor

    Certifications & Licensure
    1. Active pharmacist license in good standing
    2. Compliance with DEA and state regulations for controlled substances
